I'm the son of a cabinet maker and have been lucky enough to have been able to work with wood from a very young age - it's been a long love affair!
As far as my design philosophy is concerned, I believe that furniture should be functional and long lasting whilst being something that the owner will cherish and love. My rule of thumb is that if a customer is immediately compelled to stroke their new piece of furniture, I've succeeded!.
I work almost exclusively in hardwoods such as oak, elm and ash. Wherever possible I use wood sourced from Scottish forests and I always use timber from properly managed woodlands.
My hobbies largely involve the great outdoors, including gardening, walking, mountain biking and windsurfing and boring my wife with exciting tales of mortice and tenon joints.......
